Droopy: A Best Friend
Droopy: A Best Friend
This story is a very special story to me. Droopy has become a huge part of my life since I met Tommy. I immediately fell in love with his loving personality and cute clumsiness. Droopy is a pitbull mix, possibly pit/mastiff. In the fall of 2015 Tommy Kluck decided he wanted to adopt a dog, so he started looking online and at local shelters. Tommy had no idea what he wanted. The only criteria that was on his list was a short haired dog because of the shedding that long haired dogs have. He did a lot of research and realized that most of the dogs that were saw up for adoption were pitbulls. After looking and doing research, Tommy came across Players for Pits. PFP (Players For Pits) is a NFP organization that focuses on rescuing pitbulls from high kill shelters in Chicago (CACC), fostering through their network, and finding forever homes in the suburbs. He was also referred by some of his friends and heard amazing stories of their rescues. He saw a picture of a dog formerly named "Hossa" online and something in Tommy told him that he had to meet him. He met “Hossa” and knew that pitbull was for him. Not a lot of information was known about Hossa previously. Tommy assumed he was an apartment dog in the city and his owner surrendered him. Droopy’s big noggin, colors, and friendly personality stood out most to Tommy in his decision to get him. Tommy put a lot of work into having him properly trained and he is now incredibly well behaved. Droopy is a very smart dog. Tommy said that when he previously thought of smart dogs, he would usually refer to goldens, labs, collies, shepherds, etc. Tommy now adds pit bulls to that. Droopy’s favorite things to do are go for car rides, go to the dog park, play fetch (with baseballs only), go to the lake, and go swimming. He is a strong, healthy dog who keeps everyone he meets active and Tommy and I couldn’t imagine life without him.
