Kiwi: A Fruitful Rescue
Kiwi: A Fruitful Rescue Kiwi and Victoria have a special story. She started looking for a puppy to adopt about a year ago. Viki’s roommate and her at the time were having issues, she only saw her boyfriend on the weekends, and she didn't have a job after her internship was over. Needless to say, Viki was lonely. A shelter Viki had visited multiple times made her feel like their dogs were "too damaged" for her. Basically made her feel like she couldn't care for them. Needless to say, she took her search elsewhere. She ended up on the ALIVE Rescue's website and found a few dogs that caught her eye. Viki was working at North Ave Beach at the time (#postgradprobs) and had some extra time on her hands to take on some more responsibility. She did some research and reached out to set up a home visit. After talking with the adoption coordinators Kim and Katelyn for a month, Viki went on the website one morning and saw "Gingko" and knew instantly she was meant to be hers. She was the cutest little Beagle/Jack Russel mix, 20 pounds, 2 years old, cuddly sweet babe. Kim emailed Viki that same day with pictures of her and a small description of her, it was fate.
Viki set up the home visit and "Gingko" settled right into her apartment. She even took a nap on the couch before they left. It was a perfect match. With her new name and gear, Kiwi went home that Friday, August 26! Viki and Kiwi bonded very quickly, she loved meeting all her new friends and going on adventures EVERYWHERE with her and Brian. Brian, Kiwi and Viki live in Logan Square now in a huge apartment where she has so much space to run and play. They have a backyard too which she LOVES to sniff around in. It was so funny how excited Kiwi got every time Brian got home when they first moved to their new place. She was like "OMG you're back again!! You keep coming back every night! My life is so amazing!!!!" it's the cutest. Rescuing Kiwi changed Viki’s life and getting to have Brian and Viki as her parents changed Kiwi’s life for the better. Rescuing changes lives in amazing ways!
