Mr. Bingley: A Puppy Mill Rescue
Mr. Bingley: A Puppy Mill Rescue
Mr. Bingley was rescued from a puppy mill in Wisconsin. A woman who ran a rescue called Bullies and Friends in Wisconsin worked with the local puppy mills there to save dogs. She saves both older dogs that the puppy mill owners would get rid of as well as young puppies that were rejected by the distributors who came around and bought the dogs. The distributor looked at Mr. Bingley and rejected him because they didn't think he was attractive enough to be bought at a pet store. The work this woman does is amazing because usually puppy mills either immediately kill rejected puppies or older dogs. Usually they slit their throats or put them in cages to starve to death. It is absolutely terrifying to think that’s what would have happened to Mr. Bingley if it wasn’t for Bullies and Friends rescuing him. The woman had worked for Animal Control, so she had been to inspect a lot of the puppy mills and developed the kind of relationship where they would give her all the dogs that they didn't want.
Mr. Bingley is a yorkshire/ shih tzu mix and he was approximately 3 months old when he was removed from the puppy mill. He was 4 about 4 months old when Kathleen Turner (Dekalb, IL) adopted him. As soon as Kathleen met Mr. Bingley, he was constantly sitting on her feet at the woman's home where she ran Bullies and Friends. Kathleen immediately fell in love with Mr. Bingley. He was shy with most people at first, but now you'd never know it.
